Rear Cover Coolant Seals, Pair, Duramax 2001-2010

This pair of O-ring seals seals the water jacket passages between the engine rear cover and the block on the 6.6 Liter Duramax LB7, LLY, LBZ and LMM. They replace GM 94056175, the O-ring style rear cover coolant seal. Replace them any time the rear engine cover is removed.

Old seals that have been compressed and heat-cycled often won't reseal, and the result is a coolant leak at the back of the engine. One package services one engine.

Benefits

The rear cover has to come off for jobs at the back of the engine. A slow coolant leak there is easy to mistake for a heater hose or water pump leak, and fixing it later means taking the rear cover off again. Installing fresh seals while it's apart keeps coolant where it belongs.

My truck is a 2010-2012. Which seals does it use?

GM changed the rear cover seal design during this period, and some engines were built with one O-ring seal and one green press-in seal. The two styles are not interchangeable. Check what came out of your engine.

If you have the green press-in seal, use the Rear Cover Coolant Seal Kit, LML 2011 - 2016.

Can I reuse the old seals?

We don't recommend it. Once compressed and heat-cycled, they often won't reseal.
